Pediactric department was authorized to award Ph.D degree in 1990. It has great achievement of research on neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care, children's arrhythmia, neuroblastoma, infection of cytomegalovirus and so on.

Main academic leaders are Prof. Zhang Jiaxiang, Wei Kelun, Han Yukun, Zhang Jiahua, Xue Xindong, Zhang Qingdong, Wang Shulan. Now there are 2 Ph.D tutors, 22 master degree tutors, 22 professors and 25 associate professors in the department and more than 19 percentage of lecturergot degree of Ph.D, 41 percentage of them got master degree and 16 percentage of them had been trained in U.S.A., Japan, Swiss and Russia.

Since 1991, pediatics department has undertaken55 research projects of National, Provincial and Municipal Institutions with 23 government awards and 2,192,000 YMB fund for the research.

There were more than 20 books edited, 7 papers publicized in international journal and 284 these is in the national journal. There are one important national wide project, 5 projects of natural science fund and 7 national projects under research.

We will focus on personnel training by increasing and developing younger Ph.D tutors and terchers trained abroad, strive for more and more subsized fund, strengthen inter- national medical research cooperation and make scientific research and clinical work come close to international advanced level in future.
