The IES Cricket League 2018 is considered to be one of the most awaited and successful events of 2018. A total of 111 players took part in this event, a highest in IES history. The tournament started on 7th of September 2018, with a match between 11 Musketeers V/S AKP. There were 7 teams going head to head against each other with every team comprising of 15 players. There were 6 umpires in total in the tournament from which 2 were present in each game as per the rules of the game. The tournament was enthralling from day 1 as all matches went with a huge number of spectators. At 7AM , one could see 50-60 people ready to witness the match. There were 13 matches played in total with each team playing 3 matches(except Team Young Hurricanes playing 4), giving an equal opportunity for every team to qualify.
The semi-finals were played between Aces XI and Rising Stars on 29th of September 2018 and CMU Blasters 2.0 V/S AKP . Aces XI beat Rising Stars to advance into the final and , on the other hand, CMU Blasters 2.0 beat AKP to qualify into the finals. One would surely agree that all the matches felt nail-biting and spine chilling experiences.
The final match was played on 30th of September, 2018 at 2PM to 5PM. CMU BLASTERS 2.0 emerged as winners for IES CRICKET LEAGUE 2018. The Man of the Tournament was Sriram Sridhar, and emerging player was Kiruba. Notable performers were Mani(Highest Wicket-taker) & Sriram(Highest Runs Scorer). Many students came to witness the final game. The atmosphere in the stadium was full of excitement and anxiety as people were on the edge to their seats. The final was surely a nerve wracking experience.
Many students displayed their talents and enjoyed the season of the tournament . The spectators were energetic and supportive and IES did a spectacular job by hosting this tournament. Overall, it was an exciting experience for the players as well as the spectators. Sports Section looks forward to your continued support next year !
