Cold Dew is the 17th of the 24 solar terms in the Chinese lunar calendar. It falls on Oct. 8 and ends on Oct. 22 this year.

During Cold Dew, temperatures are much lower than during White Dew in most areas of China. The dews are greater and becoming frost. There will be less rain. Autumn crops will be ripe.

During “Cold Dew” period, the most obvious climate feature is “dry”. When it’s dry, sweat often evaporate very quickly and people can feel skin stretched, wrinkle increased, being thirsty, and often cough. Eating sesame, nut, tremella, radish, tomato, lotus root, milk and lily can help nourishing Yin Qi and moistening dryness. It’s also very good to eat some fruits such as snow pear, banana, Hami melon, apple and grape.
