On the noon of Feb. 11, the International Education School hosted the 2018 Spring Festival Gala at the Student Activity Room of IES
building. The whole room was pasted with Spring Festival Couplets, Red Fu characters, red paper cuts and hangings with Chinese
knot, lanterns and other Chinese Lucky Red items giving it a Chinese New Year atmosphere.There were more than 60 students who
gathered to celebrate the Spring Festival which will fall on Feb 16, 2018 and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

The event started off with Dr. Pan rrating the history and the folk customs of Chinese New Year. After, a Chinese girl showed
international students how to write Fu Character with the ink brush which attracted many students’ interest and they attempted to
write Chinese Letters with an Ink Brush for the first time. The game of beating the drum to pass the flowers combined with the
questions on the Chinese New Year was a fun as well as educational experience for students to learn more about the festival.

The dumpling making event also showed international students the story behind Chinese cuisine and also was the first experience for
them to try making it.

Some performances were given by the international students which made the whole event full of music, dancing and joyfulness,
soaking up the festival atmosphere.The event ended with a Family Photo taken of all the participators.

2018 Spring Festival Gala offered a wonderful opportunity for the international students to experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture.
