2017 UK-meet-China Symposium concluded successfully in CMU

During May 11st and 12nd, sponsored by China Medical University (CMU) and the The Queen's University of Belfast (QUB) in the United Kingdom, hosted by CQC, the 2017 UK-meet-China Symposium “Patient Centered Medication and Health Research" was successfully held in the science and arts center in ShenbeiCampus of our school. Prof. Zhu Jinghai, secretary of the Party committee of our university , the leaders and experts of relevant departments of our school attended the symposium. The mayor of Belfast City,  Mr.Blaine Lambert Kingston attended the opening ceremony with Urban development and reconstruction Commission of Belfast City, Urban Development Department, Officials of the Department of international relations, Counsellor and manager of Northern Ireland affairs of British Embassy, Officials and leadership of the City University of Belfast and University of Ulster, deputy director of Liaoning Provincial Education Department Hua Leidirector of Higher Education Department of agriculture, forestry and medicine of Liaoning Provincial Department of Education Yang Feng and Sun Li, deputy director of the Shenyang Municipal Foreign Affairs Office attended the ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Zhu Jinghai, Secretary of the Party Committee of our university, made a speech of welcome. He expressed his welcome and gratitude to the delegation led by Mr. Kingston, who attended the opening ceremony of the symposium, and congratulated the successful convening of the conference.

Liaoning Provincial Education Department deputy director Hua Leisent congratulations to the convening of the symposium on behalf of the Provincial Department of Education. She pointed out that the convening of this symposium wasa good chance of communication and cooperation for the two universities in the field of medicine, teaching and research. She hoped that the two universities may reach more cooperative projects with international influence and to strengthen cultural exchanges between China and UK in medical education and make a contribution to the world in the field of medicine science and technology innovation progress.

In his speech, the mayor of Kingston expressed his ardent expectation that the academic exchanges should promote the deepening cooperation between the two cities.

Professor Colin McCoy of QUB, on behalf of QUB, expressed the desire to communicate with Chinese scholars in depth and carry out scientific research cooperation.

During the symposium, 15 experts from QUB, 19 experts from our school, and experts from the PennsylvaniaState University, Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, Chinese trade and investment office of the British Embassy, pharmaceutical companies conducted research-content reports and the shared experience of applying for international joint fund and cooperative projects. They also discussed the different fields of medicine and health. Experts from both parties reached initial cooperative intentions on several projects at the meeting and indicated that they would maintain communication and were committed to seeking more international cooperation in scientific research.

 

 

This symposiumaimed to establish and promote a long-term platform for the scientific interaction and academic cooperation between CMU and QUB and to expand the cooperation and communication between universities from China and UK in international medicine and heal field, which would play a crucial role in the internationalization of domestic universities and domestic medical industry. The successful convening and fruitful achievements of this symposium proved the influence and internationalization status of our university, it would inevitably promote deeper and more extensive cooperation between CMU and QUB and make profound influence on the academic cooperation and higher education between China and the UK.

 

China Medical University – The Queen’s University of Belfast Joint College is a Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run school approved by China's ministry of education and the government of Liaoning Province, which admits studuents majoring in pharmaceutics and biological technology. It aims to achieve international recognition through the highest quality of UK education and to promote improvement of university education and scientific research abilities and international reputation through cooperation. Since its establishment in 2014, CQC has received high recognition from both governments. Both CMU and QUB declared that they would continue to train China's high-level talents with international vision, promote international education and facilitate the construction of first class major and first class discipline.

 

 

After the Opening Ceremony,the mayor of Belfast and his delegationpaid a visit to our School History Museum and CQC. where he talked with students kindly.What's more,mayor of Belfast, Mr Kingston,took part in the Tree Reception Ceremony at Angel Square.This symposium,as part of our international development measures,highlighted the fruitful cooperation between CMU and QUB.
