The Fresher’s Outdoor Games

Dec 12, 2017 14:43

The Fresher’s Outdoor Games took place on November 4, 2017.The games were designed to welcome the new students to CMU as well as to help them integrate with the rest of IES. As a result, we opted not to utilize an interclass competition thus allowing people to freely choose their teams.  The students came out in their numbers at 10am despite the cold weather. It was interesting to see medical students shed all preconceptions and participate in events such as lemon and spoon, sack race and hula hoop. For the more athletic students, the 4x100m relays and the penalties were a must-see event. The spectators enjoyed the music and you could see them dancing whenever their favourite songs came on. The competition got so intense in the ball and bucket event to the point where you could hear supporters cheering on their teams by promising them fry chicken. Some spectators formed teams on the spot just to participate in this event. Participants were especially interested in going home with the 1st place medal. The paper dance was another exciting event with teams placing their partners on their necks while dancing and still ensuring that both members stay on the paper.
